This was an incredibly effective, moving post. 

I hope that authorities do know who shot this condor, and that the punishment 
will fit the crime. Even then, that doesn't bring this bird back.

As for what went through the shooter's mind, I am not sure I want to know. I'm 
afraid knowing those thoughts would only make this news even more depressing.
