although I have limited experience with this bird, it looks like an immature
Gray Hawk. Search for pictures and see what you think.

Last week, my husband and I were in Texas. I have a picture of a hawk that
I can't identify. The picture was taken right outside the Bentsen-Rio
Valley State Park at around 8a on Monday, April 7. This is in Mission,
Texas.
