Welcome to the club. I, too, have mixed emotions about mine here in the Charlotte Park section of West Nashville. It has gotten to the point now that I almost always have from one to six Eurasian collared doves either on the deck dining or in the tree behind the deck "digesting" between feedings. Looks as if they have "moved in" as permanent boarders at Dee's "Smorgabird." They are still quite wary and fly up into the trees or to a wire when they detect any movement by the poodles or me inside the house. The other birds are used to us and only fly off in a flurry when a predator appears overhead. Earlier today, a courting pair copulated on a large limb of the tree behind the deck. Do Eurasians do a second nesting? I am assuming that this pair must have that in mind. I think the extra three that have been showing up must be the product of this pair. I also have one bird that has been odd-man-out with three doves seen before the three offsping (maybe?) showed up earlier this week. They like to perch on the bare branches of my hackberry tree. A few limbs died after hungry squirrels stripped them of their bark last winter. GO Birders! Dee Thompson Nashville, TN **************Gas prices getting you down?
