I tried to post this last night but I had troubles connecting so here it goes
again...
There are still several good birds around along the Great River Road in Dyer &
Lake Counties. There were several birders in the area yesterday including Jeff
Wilson, Daniel & Kathy Jacobson, Mike Todd, Don Manning, Ken & Betty Leggett,
Michael Hegathorn, Andy Sigler, Hap Chambers, and myself.

Andy found 2 Black-bellied Whistling Ducks on Hwy. 79W in Lake Co. yesterday
morning. They were not seen again until late yesterday afternoon when Jeff
foundd 4 near that same location. They were seen in the first water area on
the left going west on Hwy 79W after you cross the levee. Jeff also found
several shorebird species in the area late yesterday afternoon. Other birds
still in the area were:
numerous Black-necked Stilts up and down the Great River Road, 2 White Ibis
seen flying over the GRR near the Lake/Dyer Co. line, American White Pelicans
on GRR, Scissor-tailed Flycatchers on Hurd Loop Road in Dyer Co., a single,
late Savannah Sparrow on Hurd Loop Road, and the Bell's Vireo at Black Bayou
Refuge in Lake Co. Mississippi Kites were again putting on a show near Black
Bayou yesterday morning with over 30 birds seen diving and eating dragonflies
and calling constantly.

I'm sure Jeff will be in the area most of the day today so if anyone wants to
try to come and see any of these birds call Jeff on his cell phone at
901-487-8521 and he will try his best to put you on them.

Good birding,

Mark Greene
