Saturday, March 22 - Mill Creek Greenway and Percy Priest Lake

Continuing our birding exploration that we started last fall of Nashville's
impressive greenway system, we'll check out Mill Creek Greenway on Harding
Pl. east of I-24. We'll walk a level, paved trail that follows the tree-lined
creek. After that we'll carpool over to Percy Priest Lake (just 10 minutes
away) and bird a few spots including Hamilton Creek and Elm Hill marinas, the
dam, and Anderson Rd. Recreation Area, looking for breeding plumaged loons
and other waterfowl, and any early migrants. I had 4 FOS Tree Swallows today
at Mill Creek, and several beautiful Common Loons at the lake. Meet at Mill
Creek Greenway at 7:30. It's located on Harding Pl. 0.7 mile east of I-24.
Turn into the driveway just east of the Fire Dept. Station #4 where there's a
big, white sign saying Sheriff's Correctional Complex. Then take an
immediate left which goes to the greenway parking lot. This may just last the
morning, but bring a lunch just in case, and your scope.
