The Nashville Chapter of TOS will sponsor a Field Trip in Springfield (Robertson County) at the J Travis Price Park, Springfield Greenway on Saturday 05 December. Tony Lance will lead the Field Trip. We will meet in Nashville at the Adventure Science Center located at 800 Fort Negley Blvd at 7:00am. If it is more convenient for you to meet at the Field Trip site, plan on meeting at the picnic pavilion adjacent to the parking lot at the Main Entrance of the park in Springfield no later than 7:45am. Please email Kevin Bowden or Linda Kelly if you plan on meeting the group in Springfield. After birding the Greenway, we will have the opportunity to go to a nearby area to look for Shrikes, Horned Larks, and American Pipits, which have been frequenting the area. Additionally, after the Field Trip itself, for anyone interested, there may be the possibility of visiting the Cedar Hill Swamp area. This latter is worth a visit, but requires walking on uneven territory and crossing an active railroad track; take this into consideration. Bring snacks, lunch, and water. Plan on at least a half day activity, and longer if you chose to make the Cedar Hill Swamp post-Field Trip option. The current weather forecast is for sunny skies, but with temperatures in the low to mid 40's, so dress accordingly.
