Hi folks,

Yesterday (April 5) I heard at least 2 Northern Parulas at Tremont,
in Great Smoky Mountains National Park (Blount County). These were
the first I've observed in Tennessee this year.

As has been the case the last few years, my first of year were
singing the alternate song, which walks up the scale, as opposed to
the quick "up and over the top" buzz which I think of as the primary
song. Both in Maryland and here, it seems the first to arrive sing
this, then switch over to mostly singing the other. Any of you folks
agree or disagree with that thought? Is this well-known, or am I
just suffering whatever I inhaled while fighting a fire last night?

charlie
