Big Sandy Unit, TNWR, Henry County
My brother Victor and I spent most of the day checking the best areas of
Kentucky Lake, hoping for something pushed in by the cold weather in the
Northeast.
The best birds were a pair of Mute Swans at Lick Creek, and a total of 30
Common Mergansers, including many males, seen at Bennet's Creek Overlook
and Britton Ford.
Other highlights were a Forster's Tern, good numbers of Horned Larks and
Pipits, a Palm and 3 Pine Warblers, 2 Brewers Blackbirds and a single Pine
Siskin.
The road to Pace Point is still gated and inaccessible.
