Shelby Co. TN

The river traffic was way down from Saturday with only pods of Coots and
first of season, Ruddy Ducks floating by. A few Great Egrets and Great Blues
still feed along the growing edges of the bars as the river recedes. At first
just a few DC Cormorants but the skeins continued through the day, with
increasing numbers. Two groups of A. White Pelicans were seen, one over Dacus
and
another over North Lake. Red-tails and Harriers were the only obvious
migrating raptors with a few hunting Cooper's and Kestrels upsetting the birds
at
Ensley.

The numbers of Least Sandpipers again increased overnight and around 10 AM a
sudden rush of birds falling out from overcast skies, included; 9 Greater
Yellowlegs, 21 Lesser, adding to their numbers already present, 3 Stilt
Sandpipers plus single Long-billed Dowitcher, Dunlin and Pectoral Sandpiper. We

flushed Wilson's Snipe from 4 different locations and some just volunteered to
flyby, calling and zig-zagging their route to wherever. The basic plumaged
Western was still present along with a mixed up bird that just could not be
placed in a niche, even with good looks, maybe the photos will show something.
A
good mix of 11 species of Wind Birds for the day.

Sparrows still provide new species to count with a first of season Vesper
showing well on the levee plus LeConte's and Lincoln's playing now you see me,
now you don't. Savannah, Song, Swamp and Field were added with little effort.
Good Birding !!!
