15 December 2003 western Greene Co., TN A brief trip to Wal-Mart Distribution Center and nearby areas early this afternoon produced the following: Snow Goose (1 white phase, Green Road); Mallard (82, WMDC); American Black Duck (2, WMDC); Gadwall (17, WMDC); Green-winged Teal (45, WMDC); American Wigeon (6, WMDC); Northern Pintail (23, WMDC); Ring-necked Duck (1, Blue Springs Parkway); Northern Harrier (2); American Coot (5, WMDC); Killdeer (287, Pottertown Road); Red-headed Woodpecker (5, Green Road); Horned Lark (25+, Pottertown Road); Marsh Wren (1, WMDC (fourth pond)). I observed Marsh Wren at WMDC this past January and February as well, suggesting the possibility that the species might at times overwinter there.
