Trent Jett's American White Pelicans were still on Sweetwater Island in
Loudon County this morning at 7:15. We did not try for a count because we
saw them as we drove south on the I-75 bridge which crosses the Tennessee
River at about the 74 mile mark. At least some of them were still there
when we drove north at 9:33. The island is to the west of the bridge. The
Tennessee DeLorme Gazetteer, page 61 A-5, shows an island that is barely in
Loudon County next to the Roane County boundary.
