Alice Loftin, Linda Northrop, and I birded several spots in eastern Greene County today, including the Hurricane Gap area of the Cherokee National Forest. End-of-day totals showed 12 species of warblers, with good numbers for most species, but the highlights of the day (for me, at least) were the two spring firsts I got: Long-billed Dowitcher (on Birdwell Mill Road near Allen's Bridge); Acadian Flycatcher (on Hurricane Gap Road). This was my first Long-billed Dowitcher in the county since 1999 and my third overall.
