Yesterday (10/30) I went to our field again and found a nice flock of sparrows.
In the flock, there was Swamp, Song, Field, White-throated, and a lone
LINCOLN'S SPARROW, a new yard bird. We attracted the Lincoln's by pishing and
Screech-Owl calls. The bird flew up a few feet away from us for a quick second,
allowing great views, then flew back down in the brush. Jus to make sure we
weren't seeing a funny Song Sparrow, we went to the area where it flew, and no
doubt, a Lincoln's. I went back this morning (10/31) to see if I could find the
bird again, and as soon as I put my boot in the creek, a Lincoln's flew across
the creek into some brush. Later on, when I was about to cross back, I saw
Vesper Sparrow (second time in yard).
