Duck River Unit, TNWR, Humphreys County, mudflats accessed by kayak via Tie
Landing Lane.
I didn't have much time after work, but I made a quick stop after 5
tonight to look for the shorebirds recently reported. (I really didn't do a
thorough survey of the vast mudflats).
The Godwit wasn't seen, but the 2 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were located
just before dark.
I also had several other nice shorebirds, including 5 SANDERLINGS, at
least 1, possibly 2 WILSON'S PHALAROPE, an AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER, as well
as close to 100 regular shorebirds. (Peeps, Yellowlegs, etc.)
An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was photographed resting with around 50
Ring-billed Gulls, also on the island.
Good birding! Ruben Stoll, Centerville TN.
