In Sevier County, just off the 407 exit at the Dumplin Creek development site, a pair of ring-necked ducks have been seen for about a week in a shallow pond. Apparently, the gigantic earthmovers driving all over and the stone crushers at this development, which surrounds the pond, haven't scared them off. Last Thursday, a woodcock flushed from the riparian zone of Turkey Creek in west Knoxville. Last year at Turkey Creek, a nesting "timberdoodle" was found just off the greenway walking trail in a scrub-shrub stand of green ash. Bird On!
