[TN-Bird] KY Sabine's Gull

Directions for the Sabine's Gull in KY from the Nashville area: west I-24 to
68/80 Cadiz, KY (exit 65); west on 68/80 to just after Cumberland River/Lake
Barkley bridge; right (north) at the sign for Energy Lake in Lake Between the
Lakes Rec. Area for approx. 8.1 miles (the road goes past Energy Lake); right
at stop sign and sign for Taylor Bay; past Taylor Bay to left at the "Caution
Barricade Ahead" sign, left again for the road to Honker Bay (not marked). At
this point, with the bay straight ahead, a left goes to the dam and the right
goes closer to the mouth of Honker Bay which is where the bird is usually seen
(the bird can be seen from the dam area but the right is usually closer). You
can also walk on the shore to close to the bay mouth but that should not be
necessary (but useful for photos). Needless to say, this is a spectacular
gull. I left at about 2:00 pm today (Dec. 28) and half a dozen birders were
still on the bird. Other birds included all mergansers beyond the mouth of the
bay. About 100 miles from Nashville. A scope would be best.
