Taladega National Forest, Alabama
Leader: David Trently for Avian Pursuits Nature Tours (
naturetours@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, 865-531-1473)
On a scouting trip to Talladega National Forest in north-central Alabama in
May, David was able to find and view Red-cockaded Woodpeckers, Bachman's
Sparrows, and Whip-poor-wills. He will lead an overnight trip for KTOS to
attempt to locate these birds again. All are welcome. Because David will
need to arrange transportation and lodging, advance notice is needed. The
approximate cost for van rental, gas, and double-occupancy hotel rooms is
$99 if at least 9 birders attend. If you would like to arrange your
transportation and lodging separately, there is no fee but you should still
