The 30th Jackson Christmas Bird Count (22nd consecutive) was held on Monday, January 3rd, 2011. Three observers tallied 77 species. Highlights included: Bald Eagle (adult seen at Lake Graham) Sandhill Crane (3 seen flying north of I-40) Fish Crow (4 seen/heard at the UT Ag. Exp. station) Sedge Wren (new count species - seen at the UT Ag. Exp. Station) Pine Warbler (seen at UT Ag. Exp. Station) Brewer's Blackbird (350 seen in a large flock of blackbird near I-40 on McLeash Rd) Participants were Bob Ford, Mark Greene, and Allan Trently. I'll have a full report next week.
