Inland Bird Banding Association 2006 Annual Conference The 2006 annual conference will be held in Tellico Plains, Tennessee (45 miles southeast of Knoxville) on Sept 22, 23 and 24. Registration will be held Friday evening followed by a reception, orientation and welcome by representatives of Cherokee National Forest. Vogt, an active member of the Tennessee Ornithological Society, is on the national board of directors of Inland Bird Banding Association. It was organized in 1922, in Chicago, Illinois. It publishes "North American Bird Bander" which is a quarterly publication of interest to banders, ornithologists, and others interested in birds. The organization supports the largest membership of any bird banding association in America. A Saturday afternoon paper session will precede the evening barbeque banquet featuring hummingbird expert Bob Sargent who will speak on the role of bird banding in the study of hummingbirds. Bob and Martha Sargent are well-known for their work with hummingbirds regularly banding eight hundred Ruby-throated Hummingbirds annually. Additional they have banded several hundred wintering hummingbirds of several species across the eastern United States in recent years. His program promises to be both entertaining and informative.
