To all the diligent birders out there who are producing a torrent of new and historical eBird data for west TN, thank you! Thanks especially for the steady coverage this year in late summer moving in to autumn, a season that has a particularly bad shortage of existing eBird data for these areas. Many gaps are being filled in 2015, and hopefully this will continue in future years.

Also, thanks for your patience as the screening filters for these areas work up to speed. In the absence of prior data, the filters were set very conservatively so that they can be tuned upwards as new reports come in. It is much easier and more effective to set the filters low and gradually bump them up, rather than setting them high and then trying to figure out if they should be lowered. Rest assured that I examine every single flagged report to assess whether the filters should be adjusted to accommodate it. I am tweaking these filters every few days in this busy season, and hopefully you will notice fewer flags on not-really-high-counts and not-really-early- dates as the season progresses.
