Three first-of-season species were seen today. At Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in
Meigs County at Birchwood, a FOS Northern Harrier and a small group of Northern
Shovelers were observed. Near Shadden Road, two White-crowned Sparrows were
located.

Additional highlights were noted from the Cherokee Removal Memorial Park
including a flock of approximately 200 American White Pelicans and several
flocks of Sandhill Cranes, perhaps totaling 300-400, which flew into the
Hiwassee Island area of HWR just before dark.
