One adult whooping crane was seen three or four different times this Tuesday morning, 1-4-11, at the slough near the viewing gazebo at the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Meigs County. Thanks to a photo provided by Linda Godwin, visiting the refuge from Henry County, GA, the whooping crane was identified as a female from the 2005 group of juveniles. A television outdoor program hostess and cameraman from WDEF in Chattanooga visited the refuge today and interviewed TWRA HWR manager Jason Jackson and Mrs. Godwin. The cameraman was able to get lots of sandhill cranes video. The program will be available in a few days at WDEF.com. The "2011 Crane Viewing Days" at HWR will be January 15-16.
