I walked some of the remaining fields at the Riverport (industrial area just off Amnicola Highway) looking for migrating sparrows yesterday (10/27). The area has been shrinking for years with constant industrial construction. Highlights included: 1 female Bobolink (my latest fall record for Hamilton County) 1 Vesper Sparrow 26 Savannah Sparrows Then I walked (bushwacked) the fields along the Brainerd Levee. Was disappointed with the sparrow diversity, only Swamp, Song, White-throated and Field. One Orange-crowned Warbler was probably the most interesting passerine. There were a few species of waterfowl present: 1 Northern Pintail 1 Northern Shoveler 10 Blue-winged Teal 30 Green-winged Teal 35 Gadwall Mallards Kevin Calhoon Assistant Curator of Forests Tennessee Aquarium 423-785-4070 =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
