I only had 15 min to ride through Eagle Bend Fish Hatchery ponds today in Clinton, TN Anderson County while on the way to a dr. apt.. Was disappointed that there was no water in the "major" large ponds Only a few Buffleheads in the far back pond on the right. Had hoped for more ducks.. There are however, 3-400 gulls around. Among the 98 % Ring Billed gulls were at least 2 Herring Gulls and one very interesting "pale" mantled gull that may be- (I say may be!) a Glaucous Gull.. Please realize I only had about 1 minute of observation before they were scattered in the air by ambulance sirens going by on the road. The gull was slightly larger than the Ring-Bills, sitting flat on the hill among them. Was not able to see leg color. Was in my jeep, thus my scope in my van! Would not have had time to set up anyhow. I'm pretty familiar w/gulls as grew up birding on the N.C. coast, just returning from there also where I saw A Glaucous last week at a spoil area.. Hope some of you can get by and sort through these..I cant go back tomorrow..
