Before going to work this morning, I decided to check out a few birding areas just outside Greeneville. The choice paid off nicely, as I found an actively feeding Greater Yellowlegs in a pond in River Plantation subdivision along the Nolichuckey River. There was also a flock of 19 Wild Turkeys in a field at the edge of the subdivision. Purple Finches continue to come to our backyard each day as well; today we had at least 9 birds, including quite a few singing males.
