Radnor Lake
Davidson Co.

While walking along the road at Radnor Lake this morning, I saw some scaup
that I suspected to be Greaters. They had the more rounded head and nape with
the peak towards the front of the crown, and the bill was wide with a
noticeable black nail. When I got around to the Lake Trail near the platform,
they
flew by me twice and I could see the white in the wings extending into the
primaries. There were 2 males and 3 females. This is only the second time
I've seen Greaters at Radnor Lake.

There was also the usual assortment of ducks (including 19 beautiful
Canvasbacks) and geese, with the addition of a pair of Northern Shovelers in
the
east slough.
