The Great Smoky Mountains Christmas Bird Count was held Saturday, December 21, 2013. Eighteen observers participated in ten parties along with two feeder watchers. The day was unusually warm with temperatures beginning in the low 50's and increasing to 72 degrees in the afternoon. Winds were moderate to strong all day and rain was experienced over some sections of the circle. An adult Bald eagle was a first for this count. Total species 61.
