I birded on my property in Birchwood (Hamilton County) this morning and was
able to identify 26 species including several migrant species. Two highlight
species seen were Broad-winged Hawks which were likely rising from their
overnight roosts east of Birchwood, kettling, and then streaming off to the
south. I had an approximate count of 70 hawks. The other highlighted species
for me was a Northern Waterthrush, which is a warbler species and is only the
second of that species I have ever seen. Other migrant warblers observed this
morning were: one Ovenbird, one Tennessee Warbler, one Pine Warbler, and three
Magnolia Warblers. One migrating Swainson’s Thrush was seen.
