We birded different locations on the Townsend side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and along the Foothills Parkway during the afternoon and evening of Sunday, 28 June 2009. Highlights appear below. Schoolhouse Gap trail (GSMNP): Acadian flycatcher Red-eyed vireo Blue-headed vireo Black-throated green warbler Worm-eating warbler (life bird for both!) Middle Prong trail (GSMNP): Acadian flycatcher *water too loud to hear anything else Look Rock trail to tower (Foothills Pkwy): Pine warbler (group foraging in trees) Indigo bunting (pair w/young fledglings) Scarlet tanager *Flora note: Clumps of Indianpipe and Striped Prince's Pine/Spotted Wintergreen were blooming all along the trail.
