I had a good day at the Duck River Unit in Humphreys County yesterday,
November 5th, with a total of 110 species for the day on a single checklist.
I started after daylight, not intending a big day, but ended up staying
until dark when I realized I had a good list.
The current reigning November big day was 102 species done by Jeff Wilson
and Larry Peavler on November 3rd, 2001.
Unseasonably warm temperatures has allowed neo-tropical migrants such as
Yellow-billed Cuckoo to linger into November this year. 3 of these were
seen, as well as as White-eyed Vireo, Northern Rough-winged Swallow and
others.
Several recent arrivals from the North were found as well, including
Greater Scaup, Bufflehead and Golden Eagle.
Here is a complete list with a link to the checklist with many photos.
