I did a little birding this morning on my way to some field work near
Winchester. At my first stop west of Huntland, I got great looks at several
nice migrants, including a male Mourning Warbler (silent), a Least Flycatcher
(silent) and a Trail's Flycatcher that responded to playback with a
distinct"free-be-er" call to confirm Alder. Also present at that location were
two male Magnolia and one male Canada Warblers. At other locations just south
of Huntland I found a couple of nice residents, a Loggerhead Shrike and a pair
of Dickcissels.
