This morning, as I put out birdseed in my Charlotte Park, West Nashville, Davidson County, neighborhood, and ovenbird was singing loudly from under some shrubbery in my side yard. It had been so long since I had last heard that familiar voice that it gave me a real start. It's my first one on this property, but they used to be one of my favorite winter yard birds when they would "camp out" under our clumps of azaleas at my former Florida home on Lake Jessup (now spelled Jesup) in Seminole County during there 1950s. They could also be counted on for Florida Audubon Society field trips during their winters in Florida. After watching for a little while from my deck, today's bird flew from the first clump of shrubbery to another clump, then under the great cover of my cedar "Christmas" tree in the back yard. More cheers, prayers & great birding.
