Shelby-Haywood-Hardin Counties,
Tennessee

This week, I've watched multiple Fish Crows carrying nesting materials to
nest sites. In Shelby, the birds in the Robco Lake area made more trips to two
areas of pine trees. They have nested down there for years and I noticed a
bird carrying material last week while we were looking at the Long-tailed Duck.

In Haywood Co, the birds are nesting near the Hatchie Bottoms on the east
side of the Hatchie River off highway 70. In Hardin Co, two different birds
were north of the Pickwick Dam carrying material to two different sites. All
showing just how closely tied to water and waterways these egg pilfering, diet
generalist and general all round "good ol' boys" they are. They are becoming
more common all over west TN, and over wintering in quite a few areas in
numbers, such as the South Forked Deer River bottoms in Lauderdale Co, near
Halls.
