Hello everyone. I can't remember the last time I posted. It was a busy summer, and unfortunately I did not get to do much birding away from the house. But I did have some wonderful yard visitors. My favorite residents are the woodpeckers, and the pair of Hairy Woodpeckers that live in my yard were one of the highlights during the spring and summer. They got bolder and bolder and would come to the feeders right outside the windows, with their fledglings in tow, giving me excellent views of them as they fed their young, and some great photo opportunities. Absent for the first time this year was the return of the Red-headed's though. I had enjoyed them all summer long for the past 7 years, and this year I really missed seeing those flag birds. This week I've had a Red-breasted Nuthatch at the feeders, and today I had a pair of Gray Catbirds drinking from the ground bath, which were new yard birds for me. I was able photograph both. I'm looking forward to seeing who stops by tomorrow!
