From: Winston Walden I stopped at the Steam Plant on my way to Cookeville from the TOS meeting in Bristol, VA. I have not been there in a year or two, but when I went weekly during the spring and fall, I never had a Bobolink. Sunday I had a flock of five (5) Bobolinks along the road you walk to the settlement ponds. Along this road and in the soccer field, I also had: two Lesser Yellowlegs, three Semipalmated Plover, and two Killdeer. At the pond, I had four Least Sandpipers. I did no go beyond the base area. At the area where water in let into the lake and people fish, I had several birds I had not had there before. They were: White-crowned Sparrow, Yellow Warbler, Orchard Oriole--one each. The Rough-wing, Barn and Cliff Swallows were also there. At the settlement pond, I counted four Great Blue Heron and at the fishing area, six. The most Osprey I had at one time was three, but there are surely more. The Brown-headed Nuthatches are still in the few remaining pines along the plant entrance road.
