Migration still continues to be slow at Greenway Farm. It is not just that I am
not catching anything; there isn't much around. Notable absences out there
include Hooded Warbler, Ovenbird, Wood Thrush, Swainson's Thrush, and
Yellow-breasted Chat. I have only heard a few Red-eyed Vireos, Scarlet
Tanagers, and Common Yellowthroats. This morning I caught 1 catbird and 1
White-eyed Vireo, and heard my first Acadian Flycatcher. I also heard another
first out there...Eastern Screech-Owl! I see and hear plenty of Barred Owls,
and have heard the occasional Great Horned Owl, but this was my first screech
out there (and it was genuine; not Dan Jacobson doing a playback!).
