Forgot this one in my previous post -- there was one singing and feeding late this morning (April 13) in a blooming red hickory in Fairview, NW Williamson Co. As I was admiring its golden yellow chest in the sun three Chipping Sparrows got into a terrific scrap in the next tree, with much noise and fury. They became so engrossed in their fight that they fluttered and tumbled out of the tree to the ground right at my feet, at which point they woke up to their risky position relative to the big potential predator looming over them and took off poste haste in different directions.
