Did a little casual birding yesterday (10/10/13) with the family at our farm on Tucker's Creek in Lincoln County. There was lots of woodpecker activity when we got there, and they pretty much the only things to hang around once my noisy crew arrived ;-). Besides the pair of Pileateds and at least one Flicker, I saw my first Yellow-bellied Sapsucker of the season. Non-woodpeckers included Black Vultures, White-breasted Nuthatch, and Mourning Doves. If I can school my little people in the art of not scaring everything in a 3-county radius away, maybe I'll get some fall migrants...
