The Great Egrets have started to arrive (a little early) this year. I
spotted two on the island at Shutes Branch Access area on Old Hickory Lake,
Wilson County TN today 3.1.16.
I was there yesterday and didn't see them - so they must have arrived
overnight. So excited to see them again.
Also the usual waterfowl around the area, the GBH are also arriving in good
numbers, nesting on the island as well. American Coots and Ring-billed
Gulls are lowering in numbers, which is expected. Canada Geese are
increasing in number.
Wood Ducks have arrived in my cove (Harbour Island Cove, Old Hickory lake)
and was hanging around the nesting boxes.
