10-2-05 Wanting a change of venue, I birded Ellington Agricultural Center both mornings this weekend. They have recently added new mulched trails there, which combined with the other grassy and gravel trails, provide access through woods, wood edge, fields, streams, and hilltops. This is where TWRA has its offices, and is about 2 miles east of Radnor Lake, Davidson County. This is also where NTOS will be hosting part of the 2006 TOS Spring Meeting. Some of the birding highlights over the weekend included: Cooper's Hawk Red-tailed Hawk Killdeer Chimney Swift Pileated Woodpecker Eastern Bluebird Swainson's Thrush Cedar Waxwing Northern Parula Magnolia Warbler Blackburnian Warbler American Redstart Common Yellowthroat Rose-breasted Grosbeak Indigo Bunting Eastern Towhee I look forward to returning to see what else turns up.
