Please excuse the delayed posting; it seems 2020 was a significant year for
Tyrannidae in Tennessee: On December 17th, Marilyn Burgess observed an Eastern
Kingbird along the street by her home in Dickson, Dickson County (36
deg.04'11.54"N, 87 deg. 22'18.15"W). The slaty-black bird with telltale white
tailband flew from a shrub to a wire, lingered for a moment, then flew off. She
ran home for a camera, but the bird never returned. She kept watch for a few
days, to no avail. Both Marilyn and I observe and hear transient kingbirds in
this suburban setting during usual migration periods.
