I drove through Eagle Bend Fish Hatchery (Clinton, Anderson Co.) yesterday (Monday, March 31). While there was nothing of interest on the lower ponds, the upper pond had lots of activity. Not waterfowl, but about 200 TREE Swallows, with a few Barn Swallows and CLIFF SWALLOWS mixed in. Also there was a flock of about 25 AMERICAN PIPITS feeding on the ground up there. And a lone male Blue-winged Teal in the middle of the pond. Finally, on my drive through Clinton suburbs I saw several holly bushes being devoured by what must have been 500 Cedar waxwings.
