Cross Creeks NWR
Stewart Co., TN
2018 Apr. 17

Went looking for the Neotropic Cormorant this morning. Very foggy
when I arrived at the refuge entrance off TN highway 49.
John O'Barr was already there. None of the cormorants perched on
the large snag, only swallows where the Neotropic has often been
found. Eventually a few cormorants began feeding in the area,
but after a 2+ hour wait and search I did NOT find the Neotropic
this morning.

As a consolation, while we were there a swan with a grayish neck
and all black bill dropped in and went over to the island behind
the cormorant snag. My guess, for what it is worth, is that it
was a TUNDRA SWAN, although I'm not all that good at IDing them.
John got photos much closer than I did, and so it may be possible
to correctly ID it.
