Greetings,

At about 10:30 this morning, a gorgeous Cooper's hawk flew out of the
hackberry tree at the back of my deck here in the Charlotte Park section of
West Nashville in Davidson County. Apparently, it was checking my deck for my
feeder birds when I opened the French door to add more bird seed to the
feeders and "spooked" it.

There is one male goldfinch that comes to my thistle feeder several times
every day and is becoming more "golden" with each visit. He's been
visiting for two weeks. Two Eurasian collared doves have also come several
times
daily for a couple of weeks, and today there were three. They really
"scarf down" the sunflower seed.

My single junco was gone Monday. Chickadees and titmice are plentiful My
"bossy" mockingbirds perch on "their chair" outside the door and DEMAND
peanut butter which I accommodatingly supply. A pair of cardinals LIVE here
as does a flock of mourning doves and a pair of Carolina wrens. Robins,
blue jays, rock pigeons, a few starlings, house finches, house sparrows and
common grackles round out my "crew" of yard birds. I haven't had the energy
to clean my house wrens' favorite gourd, but I hear them sing from a
neighbor's yard. I also need to clean my hummingbird feeder, but energy has
been my problem with that, too.

Happy birding,

Dee Thompson
