Finally! First two male RT Hummingbirds at my feeder this am: Sat, 4/18. Also FOY Green Heron in the creek and wooded area near our house. Cedar Waxwings were picking in the apple blossoms. Two Eastern Phoebe nests have five hatchlings each (hatched in last two days). Northern Cardinal nest started with four eggs. Three Blue Jays were in the privets where the nest was. Then there were two eggs. Only one of these hatched. Baby is just getting feathers. Question: By TWRA rules, some pest birds may be eliminated (eg, house sparrow, starling, crow on certain days). What can be done legally to control others, eg cowbirds, blue jays, house finches? Each year we get more Purple Finches; this year was over 60. Last year we had one House finch pair; this year there are two pair. They are much more aggressive than the purples.
