April 16th,2011 8:00-10:00 am Well, I thought I was supposed to lead a bird walk this morning for the Clarksville Chapter (Warioto) Audubon Society and the Clarksville Greenway group, but apparently I didn't get the message it was cancelled, because I was the only person who showed up. wazzupwidat? I went anyway, and I'm glad I did beacause I got several FOY birds and others as well. The condtions were awful (brisk and breezy with overcast skies) but the birds didn't seem to care. I decicded to take the southern route from the parking lot, after listening for a while, waiting for other birders to show. I walked from the parking lot to the small bridge overlooking the swampy area, where I got lots of good birds. I would've had more, but some I couldn't indentify, because frankly, I'm not that good. More ears and eyes would've helped. But I'm not bitter. Just disappointed. Birds seen in order of appearence: Great Blue Heron Eastern Towhee Black Vulture Carolina Wren Mourning Dove Eastern Bluebird Northern Cardinal American Crow American Robin Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher American Goldfinch Carolina Chickadee Red-bellied Woodpecker Blue Jay Wood Thrush (FOY) Northern Parula Tufted Titmouse Yellow-throated Warbler (FOY) White-throated Sparrow Prothonotary Warbler (FOY) Downy Woodpecker Red-eyed Vireo (FOY) Yellow-rumped Warbler Yellow Warbler (FOY) Black and White Warbler (FOY) White-breasted Nuthatch Canada Goose (flyover) Pileated Woodpecker Wild Turkey A good time was had by all.
