Lake Co
Black Bayou area
I spoke to Jeff, and there are definitely multiple Chestnut-collared's in the
big Lap flocks at Black Bayou. He had been looking there for 3 hours, and heard
the call at least a dozen times, with one brief look on the ground. Gail King
got there a little after Jeff, but in addition to hearing them, she had good
looks at least one on the ground (not exactly sure of these details right now,
she may have had more than one). Jeff was cutting out when we were talking
(terrible reception in that area), but he said there was a group of 3 one time
I believe. Quite possibly there may be 5 or 6 of these prairie waifs among the
thousands of Laplands.

All of this is still in the same area, within a 50-100 yard area of Donald Rd.
The birds are VERY flighty, with a Merlin in the area today not helping any.
Anyone who happens to go, there are several Western Meadowlarks in this area (I
had a group of 6 on Friday), as well as numerous Brewer's Blackbirds. Late in
the day yesterday, we had large groups of Snow and White-fronted Geese dropping
into these fields. Among them were several Ross's, and 2 Cackling Geese.

Good Birding!!
