A Chattanooga TOS fieldtrip was held at Chester Frost Park (Hamilton co., TN) on Sunday March 7. The highlights included: - 8 Common Loons - 8 Horned Grebes - A nice flock of about 30 migrating Lesser Scaup. - 2 Osprey - on the nest on the usual channel marker off Pinky's Point. - 1 Great Horned Owl on a stick nest at the top of a pine near the activity building at the park. - 2 Fish Crows at the park - 11 Brown-headed Nuthatches - 1 Palm warbler - Field Sparrow beginning to sing. - 1 Red-headed Woodpecker - I had my first Purple Martin at the causeway at Wolftever Creek on Monday March 8. - 1 molting Fox Sparrow feeding under my feeder off and on at the Cravens House on Lookout Mountain on March 8 through 10. - Three Tree Swallows were flying over the Tennessee River by the aquarium on March 12.
