Davidson County
As recently reported by another birder, a Caspian tern was present with a raft
of ring-bill gulls at Snow Bunting Peninsula at 3 pm yesterday. It was located
on the right side of the peninsula shore about 50 meters from the end, which is
at the end of Burnett Road. Nearby, a male and female osprey were perched on a
nest atop a utility pole at the end of Cinder Road. Just below the dam, a
groundhog was climbing on the rocky riverbank at the southwest corner of the
parking lot. A pine warbler was heard and seen on the main nature trail next to
the parking lot. I did not see the bald eagles that were present at the nest
off Cinder Road a few weeks ago.
