There appear to be several Cackling Geese mixed in with the many regular Canadas at the City Lake in downtown Chickamauga, GA. ( about 15 mi. S. of Chattanooga) I have observed twice in past week. They are usually on or near the south edge of the lake, and are usually paired up. Size is obvious when close to the regular winter flock of Canada Geese. Directions: From Traffic light in downtown Chickamauga (we only have one) go S. on 341 and take the first road to the east (left). Turn will be in front of Gordon Lee High School and just before the Library. Proceed East about 1/2 mi. Lake will be on the left (N. side of road). Note: Lake is surrounded by 8' cyclone fence with No Trespassing signs, but shoulder is wide and I have never had a problem birding from the public side of the fence.
